Pet Blessing Day

September 25, 2020
By Dr. Troy P. Roddy
Greetings Titan family!
In my Office Hours LIVE! session yesterday (video available on our Facebook Page), I shared a recap of a recent conversation I had with third grade. For context, the students had a few questions about the school year and invited me to their class to talk with them and answer their questions. It was a delightful experience which provided me with useful insights and ideas for how to help make the school year a little better.
All of their questions, essentially, related to how certain school activities might be impacted by our COVID-19 safety plan. One event that came up was Pet Blessing Day. As a result, I am pleased to announce that we will have Pet Blessing Day, with a few adjustments in place to account for our safety plan.
On Tuesday, October 6, we will have a “pet” blessing during our regularly scheduled Chapel. Fr. Dave has agreed to record a video blessing which we will show during the service. Students can bring one of the following items to be blessed: a plush or stuffed animal version of their pet, a photo of their pet, or a picture drawing, etc.) of their pet. Please do not bring a live animal to school for the blessing. Also, in keeping with our safety plan, guests (family members, etc.) will not be able to attend the service.
While this is a departure from our usual Pet Blessing Day protocols, we are pleased to continue this tradition in a different, yet COVID responsible, manner. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Please remember to wear the proper Chapel uniform that day, too. It is also individual picture day. Information about pictures (order forms)  will be sent home next week.
As always, thank you for your continued support and partnership.
It’s a great time to be a Titan,
