Easter Is Here
March 31, 2021
Greetings Titan family!
Before we break for Easter, I wanted to send my weekly message a little early. I hope you find this message useful as we get ready for the final weeks of the 2020-2021 school year.
Tomorrow, April 1, our students will be participating in class Easter Egg Hunts. You should have received information about this from either your class TPA representative or/and your teacher. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Escalante (firstname.lastname@example.org). For clarity, tomorrow is not a spirit or free dress day. Please also note that we will be closed on Friday and Monday for the Easter holiday.
We are also working on a number of curriculum enhancements to roll out over the remainder of this year and into next. While we believe our program is excellent, we are also constantly looking to improve. As such, one area the faculty and I have been discussing is how to more specifically engage students in enriching learning opportunities that encourage students to explore their interests in more depth. One way we will begin trying out is what we are calling a “Genius Project.”
Genius Project, which will be tried out in 1st grade for now, has the teacher design extra learning opportunities related to current topics in the class that a motivated student can work on both at home and in class. These activities are not graded nor are they mandatory. They are optional enrichment available to all students in the class. Once the project period is over (about a week or two), students who did the project will have a chance to present their work to their classmates.
In addition, we will soon be trying out Exact Path from Edmentum in grades K-5. Exact Path is an online diagnostic driven learning program that identifies individual student strengths and needs, creates a customized enrichment program, and guides the student as he/she builds upon strengths and fills gaps where needed. Exact Path is a product of Edmentum, which is the courseware we use for our Titan Online Program. The plan is to try this program out to see how students respond. Usage in school will be about an hour a week.
Of course, we are working on many other ways to enhance our program and are excited for how both Genius Project and Exact Path will help us continue to serve the needs of all students, including those who are advanced, on target, and in need of additional support. More about our other program enhancements will be shared as we move towards the end of the school year.
Thank you for your continued support of our school.
It’s a great time to be a Titan,
